Welcome to BombChicago, a website dedicated to documenting and highlighting the work of graffiti artists through photos, interviews, and video essays. This site will also feature geo tagging , music and limited edition BombChicago artwork designed by various artists, as well as providing the visitor a forum to discuss and share various urban projects in their own neighborhoods.
While we at BombChicago are unsure of exactly how this project is going to unfold, we do have a few goals we plan on continuously striving to meet.
- [We want to] use the website to reflect the ever-changing landscape of the urban jungle.
- Promote taggers, muralists, artists, and musicians in a positive way.
- Collaborate with artists on design projects, i.e.: t-shirts, limited-edition prints, permission wall projects, books, events, fund raisers and BombChicago exclusives.
- Provide artists with a forum to display their art, promote themselves, and sell their merchandise.
- Give street/urban/underground art the credit and recognition it deserves without sacrificing any of the integrity behind the creation.
If you see yourself in any way fitting in to this project or have ideas, please let us know.
It is important for us at Bomb Chicago to state: though we don’t condone the destruction of personal property and are not affiliated with any particular crew, we find it necessary and important to expose the talent of artists who have taken it upon themselves the daunting task of reclaiming public space. With the grip of corporations and government closing in, we feel this display of art, be it printed, painted, digitized, stenciled, rapped, or spoken is as or more important now in order for us to move forward as a collective group. We thank you for visiting Bomb Chicago and hope you enjoy the works of some very talented people.

NBF currently lives on the south side of Chicago. He spends most of his free time these days between his girlfriend of 10+ years, his dog, and taking photos of the urban landscape. He’s currently slings drinks at one of Chicago’s premier neighborhood bars. He moved to Chicago from rural Michigan to attend U.I.C. back 1995 and has stayed put since. One thing that fascinates him about the city is watching the continual small changes that take place on the streets . “I’ve always been intrigued (since moving to Chicago) in watching the subtleties on how the city is in constant flux. They seem inconsequential at first but piling them up over weeks, months, years, they become truly astounding. I’ve wanted to document these subtle changes for years but wasn’t sure how to approach it. I think by combining the three mediums of graffiti, architecture and photography is an interesting and historical way to document these changes.” He also owns a keg-o-rator. |

Spiderpig moved to Chicago 12 years ago in seek of big city life. The small town feel of Chicago’s neighborhoods was a pleasant surprise, and make the city a great place to call home. Her favorite features of Chicago include: the parks, the architecture, and the variety of ways the riverfront is used - or not. She works in the veterinary field, and loves seeing the joy animals bring to people’s lives. Spiderpig has a saltwater fish tank whose inhabitants include a temperamental starfish and two clowns. She also has a cat with 26 toes, a cat with a mohawk, and the best dog in the world. In her spare time, She enjoys spending time with family and friends, south side baseball games, trying to keep her plants alive, reading, and people watching. |

WZRD has been dealing with all things digital since about the 5th grade and is our resident geek. He’s a relatively recent transplant to the Chicago area having moved here about three years ago, but he’s been traveling here on nearly monthly basis for almost ten years. He’s been married to a girl way out of his league for almost two years now. They love their dog, and they despise their cat - anyone want a cat, she’s the cutest most lovable thing ever! WZRD makes his living roaming the city fixing dead computer networks and helping setup future online giants. “I’m most interested in the idea of reclaiming our public spaces and getting rid of some of this grey and brown… let’s introduce a little color and a little chaos to this drab shit.” He is most likely currently drinking a beer. |
